Pattiesmuir and Limekilns Circular is a route I often take with my labrador pup to tray and tire him out.
The route starts in a small car park (OS Grid NT 104 836) next to Sainsburys and the friendly little Yellow Coloured Cafe.
The beginning of the route takes in a main road (A985) headed toward Limkilns. Carry along until you see the small village of Pattiesmuir. Carefully cross the road and head toward the village. At the end off the road you will see the cemetery.
To the left of the cemetery entrance is a dirt path leading towards the Brucemount Plantation. In summer the initial stages of this path are prone to a lot of stinging nettles so dress accordingly.
Follow the path through the countryside until you reach the farm road leading to the main road and onwards to Limekilns. The Limekilns section of the route takes in a section of the Fife Coastal Path and offers some nice views over the Firth of Forth.
Leaving Limekilns you will find yourself at the point where you crossed the main road earlier in the day. Follow the road back to the start and treat yourself to well earned a cup of tea at the Yellow Coloured Cafe.
This route is popular with runners and fellow dog walkers.
Route shared with Walk Fife by Brian Johnson.
